Guidance Counselor Job Description
The school guidance program is part of the total school program at Noor-Ul-Iman and complements learning in the classroom. It is child-centered, preventive, and developmental. The program encourages students’ social, emotional, personal, and spiritual growth at each stage of their development. Counseling is conducted with students when requested and determined appropriate. Counseling can be requested by students, parents, or teachers, administrators, or other school staff. The counselor complements the staff’s efforts to meet the needs of students individually, in small groups, and in entire classrooms. The guidance counselor will provide students with assistance in:

The counselor may also meet with parents and participate in parent/teacher conferences in order to help the parents understand their child’s progress in school and to help the parents select appropriate strategies for working with their child.
The guidance counselor reports to their administrator for anything pertaining to students. The guidance counselor agrees to perform any duty delegated as being in the best interest of Noor-Ul-Iman School, and also agrees to abide by all school policies and decisions now or herein with existing.

ince 1993. The enrollment exceeds 600 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. Noor-Ul-Iman is a college preparatory school that strives to give students the knowledge and skills they will need to succeed in college and move on to the careers of their choice. NUI has a 100% college attendance rate post-graduation, with students applying to colleges ranging from state colleges to the Ivy League. The classroom facilities for Pre-K through twelfth grade students are located in a newly constructed building which opened to students in two phases, in Sep 2012 and Sep 2014. In addition to classroom facilities, the school has a computer lab, library, biology/chemistry lab, physics lab, and an art/home economics room. NUI is looking forward to building Phase III of the permanent school structure, which will provide additional classrooms, a cafeteria, and a gymnasium. The school operating budget is over 5 million dollars for the entire school, of which approximately 2% comes from state and federal funding and 8% from donations. The school is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of a group of professionals from diverse fields. The administrative affairs of the school are managed by the School Executive Council, consisting of a group of professional educators averaging eighteen years of educational experience.
